FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Can I pay fees online?

A: Unfortunately at this time, you can’t pay fees online. We are only accepting fees through mail-in.

 

Q: Who is considered a vulnerable student?

A: Students receiving special education, 504, ELL,  or homeless services may be designated as vulnerable.

 

Q: Do I have to check out a Chromebook?

A: Students who are returning to the on campus blended learning MUST check out a chromebook device. Chromebooks are the only device that will be allowed for in class work. Personal devices are not allowed on the DOE network. If you are choosing the Distance Learning option, you don't have to check out a chromebook. If you do need a chromebook for home use, you can check one out.

 

Q: Can we request to switch groups?

A: The request to switch groups due to family hardship may be made by contacting the academy VP via phone or email and will be made on a case by case basis.  The request may be granted based on the size of the class and ability to adhere to the social distancing requirements. 

 

Q: How did you make the Maroon and Gold groups?

A: The groups are based the students First letter of their last name, Maroon (A-K) and Gold (L-Z)

 

Q: What if I have two kids at Castle with different last names; one in Maroon group, and one in Gold group? Could they be placed in the same group?

Q: Is there a school supply list?

A: There is no school supply list for high school. If the teachers need specific supplies for their class, it will be noted in their syllabus. They will receive their syllabus when they start school.

 

Q: What is the desk spacing in the classroom?

A: The desk spacing will ideally be six feet apart.

Q: What if my child wants to wear a shield instead of a mask?

A: A student may wear a shield in addition to wearing a mask, but not in place of. Shields are not required.

Q: Are students going to be in one classroom all day?

A: Although students will be coming to campus in their Maroon and Gold groups, students will still be transitioning from class to class throughout the day based on their schedule.

Q: What will lunchtime look like on campus?

A: Students will be required to use their current school ID card to purchase lunch. Lunch will still be a grab and go meal. There will be signage to help adhere to six feet social distancing guidelines. Students will be expected to follow all safety and health guidelines during lunch.
