Cafeteria Extension Plans

Castle's Dining Room Expansion Project!

We have dreamed of expanding our dining room area for our students for many years
and now the dream has come to fruition thanks to Senator Jill Tokuda and Representative Ken Ito!

A new covered dining area will be replacing the McDonalds table area pushing out in the Makai direction, as well as provide an outdoor stage area. More importantly, renovations will correct improper water drainage that had caused previous flooding.  We are working to replace our dining furniture as well.

The area directly in front of the cafeteria, which we refer to as the "Cafe Mall", will also be renovated. Renovations will include a low retaining faux lava rock wall to serve as built in seating, accent lighting, and indigenous landscaping.

The interior dining room area will feature a freshly painted interior, repaired clerestory windows, a reconfigured serving area, two huge fans (like Costco), and several TVs to display and loop important announcements.

The $2.4 million dollar project will also reconfigure the accessible ramp ways and provide gating to properly secure the area. Renovations will greatly improve the movement of students and serve as the hub of numerous student led activities.

Construction starts this June 2018 with Iida Contracting serving as General Contractor and will last for approximately 117 days.
